We drove past several times but finally actually made it inside on our last night. What a lovely place, decor is exactly what I'd expect from a German restaurant. We were greeted and seated immediately, drinks order promptly taken while we made our choices. Having both lived in Germany we decided on an old favourite, Currywurst. The server told us several times it was quite spicy so I'm guessing some American guests hadn't expected that. Our main courses arrived in good time and were delicious. Piping hot , crispy French fries, a great Currywurst - which our server explained was made in-house, and good coleslaw. Good portion size.in fact so good we couldn't manage dessert but we made sure to take our apple streusel home for later. All in all, a great find, a great authentic meal and good efficient service !! We'll be back!

Basic good German fare. I got all of my favorites and they were all done well. The service was attentive and the kitchen worked quickly. Will definitely return.

Agree that this spot has a simple charm and the chef puts a good feed on farmer style. The knoedle is handmade. We had the sauerbraten and the grille haxen. You have German bier Von faucet- Warsteiner pils and more with Appel streudel. Having lived in the Odenwald area for many years, I can compare the tastes and find a couple contrasts: the rot kraut was over salted and the warm sauerkraut as well. The pork knuckle was very fine. The braten melted in your mouth. The gravy was too salty but the bread was lovely. The plate mine arrived on was lukewarm and obviously not reheated well enough. This is a simple gaststubbe with emphasis on the schnitzel - fried n breaded every way possible. We would encourage the lovely gemisched salat and more braten dishes w forelle??! It was good but not great food on German standard. Go try it as I believe it has an appeal n the family business seems a nice change from chains. I think the chef could definitely step up the game w encouragement!

I went here with my German beau and he said definitely 5 stars for the food. It was authentic German food with large portions. We started off with the potato pancakes & applesauce, right away, I could tell he was impressed. As for entrees, he had the currywurst & I hand the wienerschnitzel. Both fantastic. The currywurst surprised you ever so subtly with a nice heat and good flavor. My entree was fantastic. The mashed potatoes were divine. I piled them all together & poured on the gravy (in true Germab fashion) and loved every bite. The service was prompt. Loved that I could bring my beau & he could enjoy conversing with the owner in his native tongue. The place is family owned & operate, which is another plus. Sure the decor was a little commercial & gimmicky, but they're playing to American perception. We will definitely be returning... After all, we were too stuffed this time for dessert! :)

I lived 14 years in Germany and have not had this good a German meal since I left. The Hock was perfectly prepared and the sides - red cabbage and knoddle (dumplings) were excellent. Can't wait to go back

Excellent meal, we had the schnitzel and our friend had the grillhoxe and everyone was very happy. Potato pancakes were crispy and really tasty. The red cabbage was the best I have had. This was a 5th trip here and the only reason I did not give it 5 stars was it was not always consistently great. When it wasn't it was still very very good. The selection of beers are authentic and tasty compliment to the food.

We've been in Cape Coral 3 months and just made it to Duke of Germany. Went on a Friday night about 6:30 and got one of the last tables available; we did not have a reservation. Mature crowd and several groups of 7 or more. My family is of Hungarian descent so the menu was not completely foreign to me, but choosing what to order was no easy task. I settled on goulash soup and the house special, grillhaxe. Husband had the salmon app and devils platter which included curry wurst and schnitzel. Courses were not rushed and everything was served hot and fresh. Warm, crusty sourdough bread was included. Soup was a velvety tomato broth with flavors of bell peppers and spices and plenty of beef; similar flavor but different preparation than my family's Hungarian version. Potato pancakes served with salmon were delicious especially with the horseradish sauce. Grillhaxe (roasted pork hock) was huge and perfectly cooked with crisp skin and savory gravy on the side. I selected spatzle and red cabbage (love the cloves) which were perfect sides. Curry wurst and schnitzel each had different, flavorful sauces and came with fries and salad. Service was very good both in attentiveness and accuracy. Portions were so generous I had enough leftovers from my entree alone to feed us both at lunch next day. What a great find just a couple miles from our winter home - hope we get to visit again before we head back north!

I went on a Fri evening at 5:30 and was lucky to find a seat. Popular place. I liked the Thuringer sausage (made in-house) plate that came with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and a small bowl of potato salad. I had the ghoulish soup and my wife had the ghoulish dinner with spaetzle....not so good. Broth ok but meat overcooked. Service was good, owner's son who had an entertaining manner. Strudel warmed in microwave that made the dough tough, but was delicious nonetheless.

After the potato pancakes, our table enjoyed weiner art schnitzel, sauerbraten, raulade, Bavarian ham hocks and 2 bratwurst because we obviously didn't have enough food, HA! . Everything was delicious! The schnitzel was increadibly tender and flavorful, the hocks were cooked in an oven, which turns the skin into a delectable crust-fresh ham not smoked. The beef, extremely tender. The gravy was very flavorful and i thought salted perfectly. The sides we tried included potato dumplings, red cabbage, sauerkraut, spaetzel and the potato salad. I agree with other reviews about the potato salad, that was only just ok. Everything else however was awesome. The only reason for my 4 stars instead of 5 is atmosphere. The movie/folk music videos were cheesy but otherwise somewhat entertaining. I think it could be nicer inside. The service (I think owners) were extremely attentive, everything was done quickly, rifills were timely, and they were super personable. I cant speak to authenticity of the food never having never been to Germany, but it seemed real authentic and deleicious to me. Can't wait to introduce friends to the Duke!

Fat Snook Cocoa Beach Florida Not for casual dining (don't think about bringing kids). Gourmet menu and expensive. Good for a special event. However, noise level was awful. The restaurant is small and tables were very close together. Our server shared information about specific menu items. None of us were able to appreciate his description as we could not hear him above the din of the chatting and loud laughter of diners nearby. We, party of four, were unable to have a conversation.

Spending time in Germany for each of the last 5 years, I like and know my German food. This place is authentic and very tasty. Owned and run by a family and having some good German beer on tap, this place is worth a visit for sure. I had a veal schnitzel, which was done right, the cabbage was excellent. The potato salad was just okay. I would come back, plesent surprise, and much better than most German food I've had in the country aside from the Chicago area.

Ive passed the place before on several occasions never thinking of going in. But one day arriving at an appointment early I decided to go in. Not hungry I was gonna order something far larger than my appetite would endure. The server, realizing this, and at the sacrifice of a higher check, suggests a smaller version of the meal. I was utterly satisfied by the service and the schnitzel and they now have a loyal customer. Comes highly recommended.

The one place I eat every year. I travel a lot and have eaten at many german restaurants and I think they have the best food.

Unfortunately I can't really give more than 3 stars this time. Atmosphere is still horrible! The owners seem to think that playing cheesy German folk music ads authenticity. It is horrible and being Austrian, I really don't understand the philosophy behind it. It gives a total false image of German/Austrian restaurant culture, you will only and solely find outside Austria and Germany. The food is pretty good, although not everything's home made.

Highly recommend! The decor is slightly kitschy but in a very charming way. The staff, all family, was very welcoming and helpful. The beer choice was limited but authentic, and they even offered a radler option. We had the homemade brats which were delicious. The sauerbraten was very good and the sauce reminded me of many meals in Germany. All of the sides were outstanding, we tried-red cabbage, sauerkraut, dumplings, spaetzel and mashed potatoes. For dessert we split the plum struessel and I thought it was a little cold but still very good.

This is the best German food I've ever had! It is run by a German family and the food is always served hot. Try a pretzel. Many times you will find other patrons are German speaking. Very nice people and family friendly. They also serve beer by the boot if you are so inclined.

After reading the other review my husband and I decided to check out this place. I needed to experience this place without being influenced with peoples opinion. I have only heard good things from my students and so was very surprised with the negative comment and the wait. When we got there for lunch we had a very nice service and the food was excellent. My 4 yrs old daughter even enjoyed it .The portion of plate was very nice an it was not heavy at all. They had german beer and it was nice to taste some german food. the food reminded me about Germany and i highly recommend this place. The server was very nice and professional. I hope to go back for dinner time for a date with my hubby without my child. I even was able to see the kitchen as I went to use the restroom. I have to say the kitchen is very clean unlike some places I have seen. If you are in rush then do not bother to go. The food is only cooked by one person so if you cant or do not wait long then you should forget going. This is a family friendly place and very relaxing when we went for lunch. I do hope to go in a evening and hope to write a review then. For now I highly recommend everyone to try german food and enjoy it!! We did not wait too long for the food it was perfect timing for us 3 especially having a 4 yrs old with us.

Authentic and delicious. A gem among the dull chain restaurants and pizza places that litter the Cape. Great lunch service too.
